Unglaciated mountains don't get much more steep and rugged than the San Gabriel Mountains. Here you can see the San Gabriel River cutting through the Sheep Mountain Wilderness, and in the distance the 10,064 ft Mount Baldy. This view, from the north flank of Mount Baden-Powell, is one of my favorites in this mountain range.
